Heat Vs. Lakers Final Score: Kobe Bryant Leads L.A. Past Short-Handed Miami

The Los Angeles Lakers used strong defense and a few surprising performances on offense to get an 83-93 win over the Miami Heat at the Staples Center on Sunday.

Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 33 points, and got them on an unusually efficient 14-for-23 shooting. He got help from Andrew Bynum (16 points, 13 rebounds) and Pau Gasol (11 points, 10 rebounds), his usual lieutenants, but the surprise of the day was Metta World Peace, who chipped in 17 points. The Lakers also limited Miami to 37.5 percent shooting from the field.

The Heat, missing Chris Bosh due to injury, also lost Dwyane Wade in the fourth quarter after four quick fouls led to his disqualification. And LeBron James' excellence — he posted 25 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, three steals, two blocks — wasn't enough to overcome a cold shooting night that saw just Wade (16 points) and Mario Chalmers (15 points) join him in double figures.
