Brandon Roy Drawing Interest From Warriors
Brandon Roy is reportedly drawing interest from the Golden State Warriors. General manager Bob Myers has said several times over the past months that the team would like to add a veteran to join Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in the backcourt.
“I told (Roy) when he was amnesty-ed ... ‘I hope this isn’t it for you. Make sure this isn’t it.’,” Myers said. “He’s said publicly he wants to come back, so I’ll start to talk to him. It depends how everything goes for us and what his expectations are and all of that. But absolutely I’ll talk to him.”
Myers used to be Roy's agent once upon time, so there is a direct connection to the Warriors. Myers has also said several times over the last few months that team is looking to add a veteran backcourt teammate to join Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
Roy announced his retirement in December after he was waived by the Portland Trail Blazers. He recently began rehabbing his troublesome knees in hopes of returning to the league, however. Considering his likely cheap sticker price, several teams may jump at the chance to sign the former NBA Rookie of the Year.
