Danilo Gallinari will not return as soon as he predicted and, at this juncture, is unable to put a timetable for when he will be back. At this point he isn't running yet, Gallinari said in an exclusive interview with Christopher Dempsey of the Denver Post.
Danilo Gallinari injury: Nuggets forward still weeks away from returning
The 6’10 Italian talked with the Denver Post about the rehabilitation process and the lack of a timetable for his return.
The 6’10 Italian predicted at the start of training camp that he’d return by next week, but that timetable is out the door.
“I had no experience with this injury, this rehab. That was just my prediction. But as you can see I was completely wrong.”
The Denver Post reports that any talks of Gallinari is still planning to return this season. Gallinari also said in the interview that he is not frustrated with how long the rehabilitation process is taking:
"...You kind of want to rush it sometimes because you're not playing basketball, so you're not doing what you love to do. But in this case, the more time you take and the more precise you are in your rehab the better it is in the future."
Gallinari, 25, tore his ACL in April in a late regular season game against the Dallas Mavericks. He helped lead the Nuggets to a franchise record 57 wins in the regular season. Denver missed him dearly in their first round loss in last season's playoffs without him.
Denver has managed to hover around .500 early in the season so far. The team would be in a good position if it can stay around the middle of the pack until the scoring threat returns.
