Danilo Gallinari injury: Nuggets forward not ruling out missing entire season

The thought of missing the entire season has crossed Gallinari’s mind, but he’s still weighing his options.

Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari hasn't ruled out missing the entire 2013-14 season as he recovers from a partially torn ACL, according to the Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Emiliano Carchia of Sportando translated part of the interview, revealing Gallinari said one of the biggest parts of his rehab now is dealing with the mental aspect. The Nuggets forward hasn’t set a target date for his return and said the idea of sitting out the entire season is something that has crossed his mind.

Gallinari injured his left knee last April, and it was initially diagnosed as a torn ACL and torn meniscus. But when he went under the knife to repair the ACL, only a partial tear was discovered.

Gallinari underwent a special healing treatment for the ACL, and there was some hope he could return before the calendar flipped to 2014. However, the recovery has not been as speedy as hoped, which has left open the chance of him missing the season.

The inconsistent Nuggets could certainly use Gallinari back in the lineup. Denver currently sits at 19-18, two games behind the Phoenix Suns for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
