Rudy Gay injury: Kings forward exits with right knee stiffness

Sacramento’s newest acquisition averaged 25 points per game through his first two appearances in his new digs.

Rudy Gay has had a nice start in a new home in recent days, but he was forced from action in just his third game for the Kings and was unable to return.

Sacramento's newest acquisition reportedly left the team's loss to the Charlotte Bobcats with stiffness in his right knee and did not return. He had just four points and three rebounds in 24 minutes before leaving the contest for good.

Gay has been very good since the trade from Toronto that sent three players to northern California and four players to the Raptors. Prior to Tuesday action, the small forward averaged 25 points and 2.5 steals a night through two games, and he hit 18 of his 32 shots in that stretch.

He’s been taking good shots, too, which hasn’t been commonplace for Gay over much of his career. It’s a shame to see this early setback given his hot start after a change of scenery. We’ll keep you updated as his future status becomes more clear.
