Al Horford injury: Right shoulder injury forces Hawks big man to leave in overtime

Al Horford left the Atlanta Hawks’ game against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a right shoulder injury suffered during overtime and will not return, the team announced. He went back to the locker room after the team took a timeout.

Horford finished the night with 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting and eight rebounds in 36 minutes. Horford has played in all 29 of the Hawks’ games through the season, leading the team with 18.3 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. DeMarre Carroll also left the game early, spraining his thumb during the fourth quarter while fighting through a screen from Tyler Zeller.

Horford tore his left pectoral muscle during the 2011-2012 season, suffering the injury in Jan. 2012 and he missed the remainder of that season. The team has not announced the severity of Harford’s current injury or any timetable on his return.
