LaMarcus Aldridge wants Blazers to improve playoff chances in trade

LaMarcus Aldridge of the Portland Trail Blazers speaks on his desire for the Blazers to improve the team before the trade deadline but says he understands the Blazers have a “plan.”

USA TODAY Sports

LaMarcus Aldridge of the Portland Trail Blazers opened up to Sean Deveney of Sporting News regarding how he feels about playing on a rebuilding team while in his prime.

Aldridge said he would like the Blazers to make a move to improve their odds of making the playoffs. Currently, the Blazers are the 10th seed in the Western Conference and four games out from the eighth-seeded Houston Rockets.

The Blazers have not been linked to any trades that would obviously improve their playoff situation this season, however. Portland has been shopping center J.J. Hickson, who is averaging 12.9 points and 10.4 rebounds in 29.4 minutes per game, for a first-round pick. Hickson will be an unrestricted free agent this Summer. Ken Berger of CBS Sports reported that it's unlikely they will be able to secure a pick for Hickson.

Asked about the difficulty of playing on a team outside of the playoffs, Aldridge said he would “definitely want to increase my playoff chances but [the Blazers] have a plan,” via Sean Deveney.
