Jazz vs. Mavs final score: Dallas holds on for 113-108 victory

The Dallas Mavericks led by as many as 21 points in the fourth quarter on Sunday, but they had to hold on late to beat the Utah Jazz, 113-108.

Mike James led seven Mavs in double figures with a season-high 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Dallas shot a scorching 54.3 percent from the field and 9-of-18 from three, which is why they were able to build up such a big lead midway through the fourth quarter. But the Mavs went a bit cold down the stretch, and the Jazz cut a 21-point deficit to three with seven seconds left before Darren Collison iced the game at the free throw line.

Collison had 13 points off the bench despite making just one shot, going 11-of-13 from the charity stripe. Vince Carter also made hay from the line, going 8-of-8 on freebies en route to 15 points off the bench. The Mavs went 28-of-33 overall on free throws, outscoring the Jazz by 11 at the line.

Enes Kanter had 17 points to lead seven Jazz in double figures. Utah shot an excellent 51.2 percent overall, but it was not enough to overcome the huge deficit. The Jazz have now lost four in a row as they continue to slip out of the playoff picture. Utah and Dallas now hold identical 34-36 records, two games behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
