The New York Knicks opened up a 14-point halftime lead and never looked back, defeating the Boston Celtics, 100-85, Tuesday night at TD Garden.

Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith dominated the scoring, accounting for 61 of New York's points. Smith led all scorers with 32 points and added seven rebounds and three steals. Anthony wasn't efficient on 10-of-30 shooting, but managed to add 29 points, eight rebounds and three steals of his own. No other player scored in double figures for the Knicks (43-26).
For Boston (36-34), it was carelessness with the ball that sealed the Celtics' fate on the road as they committed 19 turnovers. They got a more balanced effort in the scoring department as five players scored in double figures. In the absence of Kevin Garnett, it was Jeff Green who led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Both teams had a mediocre night from the field. Boston finished the game with a 44.9 percent mark while New York finished at 43.3 percent. The Knicks created opportunities for second-chance points by collecting 15 offensive rebounds against just seven by the Celtics.
