Michael Carter-Williams put on a show against the Indiana Hoosiers as the Syracuse Orange upset the No. 1 seed and advance in the NCAA tournament.
Carter-Williams size altered the game, his 6’6 180 pound frame turning into a vessel to be reckoned with as he drove to the rim. He shot 9-for-19 on the night while also grabbing five rebounds and one assist. He also had four steals to go with that. Usually known for his work as a play maker, Carter-Williams took to scoring and was effective from long-range, hitting three of his five three-point attempts.
The Orange's victory over the No. 1 seeded Hoosiers serves as a key game for Carter-Williams draft stock. It was a headline match-up not only because of the two teams, but because of highly touted prospect Victor Oladipo being matched with Carter-Williams. Oladipo had a strong night, shooting an efficient five-of-six while scoring 16 points.
With Carter-Williams putting up a statement game in the NCAA tournament, his draft stock will certainly be rising. With his great size, playmaking, and driving ability Carter-Williams only flaw is his perimeter shooting which he stuck a fork in against Indiana. The point guard has already raised his draft stock and still has room to push it even higher up as the Orange continue through the tournament. Carter-Williams is a catalyst for the Orange’s offense, and Syracuse will likely go as far as he takes them. Showing his ability to take the scoring load instead of just trying to involve teammates, and doing so successfully, can only serve as a showcase for his talents.
