NCAA Tournament 2013: Cody Zeller struggles in loss

Cody Zeller didn’t play well on offense in his last game of the 2012-13 season but still ended his sophomore campaign with impressive numbers.

Indiana Hoosiers big man Cody Zeller shot 3-for-10 from the floor in the team's 61-50 loss to the Syracuse Orange in the Sweet 16 round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament on Thursday.

For more on Zeller and Indiana, head over to The Crimson Quarry.

Zeller struggled with Syracuse's 2-3 zone defense, which actually gave the 7'0 sophomore some open looks near the top of the key. However, instead of attempting what would have been several uncontested jumpers, Zeller opted to pass or drive, resulting in multiple well-defended shots taken by other Indiana players. On one occasion, an ill-timed drive resulted in Zeller being whistled for a charge while trying to make something happen.

On the boards, Zeller made the most of his height advantage over Syracuse's bigs, pulling down nine rebounds, four of which came on the offensive glass.

If Zeller were to declare himself eligible, he is projected to be a top-10 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft by ESPN's Chad Ford. Zeller finished the season averaging 16.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
