Steve Nash injury: Lakers G to miss 2nd straight game

The Lakers will not have Steve Nash at their disposal when they play the Memphis Grizzlies Friday night.

Steve Nash will miss his second straight game Friday night when the Memphis Grizzlies visit the Los Angeles Lakers as he continues to struggle with both hip and hamstring issues, reports Mike Bresnahan of The Los Angeles Times.

Nash was initially hurt when the Lakers played the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 27 and attempted to play on the injury twice since, each time being pulled out of the game early. He was then ruled out Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks, and will now be out against the Grizzlies.

Mike D'Antoni expressed optimism Tuesday that Nash could return to play the Grizzlies after having an extended break, but that is not the case for the Lakers. Steve Blake will continue to start in place of Nash.

The Lakers currently hold the eighth seed in the Western Conference with the Utah Jazz only a half-game behind them. The Jazz are also in action Friday as they take on the New Orleans Hornets. Los Angeles has seven games remaining on their schedule with only one true road game left when they travel to Portland.
