US PRESSWIREJackson to help Pistons’ coaching search

USA TODAY SportsPhil Jackson won’t be the Detroit Pistons’ next coach, but he’ll help them pick one. The 68-year-old with 13 NBA titles to his name will join the team in an advisory role as they search for a replacement for Lawrence Frank.
Jackson desires a return to the NBA next season, most likely in a behind-the-scenes role. This isn’t that - he’ll simply be helping out as they look for the guy who will be the team’s next coach. A team press release indicates that Jackson knows team owner Tom Gores personally, and agreed to help due to their relationship. On the other hand, it also specifies that Jackson will not be filling a more concrete role with the franchise going forward.
