Alex Len won’t be able to participate in any pre-draft workouts, as the 7’1 center from Maryland had ankle surgery that could cause him to miss some of the early part of his first NBA season. Per Alex Prewitt from the Washington Post:
Alex Len injury: NBA Draft prospect to miss 4-6 months with stress fracture
Center Alex Len, 7’1, has tons of upside, but he won’t get to show it off for NBA scouts in the run-up to the NBA Draft.

Len had ankle injuries towards the end of the season, but the extent of the fracture wasn’t revealed until after he declared for the draft. Now without the option to return to college, Len’s stock could take a hit as his injury will keep him from playing for the next 4-6 months -- a timeframe that extends into November -- and he won’t be able to do on-court drills and workouts for teams curious about his talents.
They’ll be forced to rely on his game tape, which isn’t necessarily the best thing for Len, as the 19-year-old’s promise is in his potential rather than polished product. Len made huge strides in his second year at Maryland, doubling his production from 6.0 points per game to 11.9 while improving to 7.8 rebounds and staying steady at 2.1 blocks per game. It’s a start, with a lot of refinements still to be made if he wants to be a top NBA center, but his size, wingspan and athleticism are legitimate -- except now he’ll only get to show the first two to scouts.
Len, who declared for the NBA Draft after his sophomore year with the Terrapins, was ranked as the No. 7 pick in the upcoming draft by DraftExpress, behind only Nerlens Noel amongst centers.
