Byron Scott and the Los Angeles Clippers have discussed the team's head coach position, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard. There have been no offers on the table as the Clippers continue to compile a list of candidates, but sources told Broussard that Scott has expressed interest in the position.

The Los Angeles Clippers contacted Byron Scott during their search for a new head coach, a move not surprising given his relationship with point guard Chris Paul.
Jeff Van Gundy, Brian Shaw, Lionel Hollins and Nate McMillan are others rumored to be in the mix for the job.

Scott's name, however, has been in the rumor-mill since the team fired Vinny Del Negro on May 21. Clippers point guard Chris Paul, who is a free agent this summer, played under Scott with the New Orleans Hornets, and Los Angeles has taken Paul's opinion into account in a number of ways regarding the roster and the coaching staff. Paul reportedly had a say in Del Negro's future and didn't back him, which in part led to the team looking for other options.
The Cleveland Cavaliers fired Scott after this past season, his third with the team. Prior to that Scott was a head coach for the New Jersey Nets from 2000-04 and the Hornets 2004-09.
Scott's history in Los Angeles could make the job appealing on his end. He played for the Lakers from 1983-1993 and again in 1996-97.
The Clippers, then the San Diego Clippers, drafted Scott in 1983 before trading him to the Lakers.
