Former Philadelphia 76ers general manager Tony DiLeo is "a serious candidate" for the same position in Denver, according to Chris Haynes of CSN Northwest. This comes following Nuggets' team president Josh Kroenke making big waves when he elected to dismiss NBA Coach of the Year George Karl and allowed NBA Executive of the Year Masai Ujiri to leave for Toronto after the most successful regular season in franchise history. His new long-term vision for the team has been slow to develop.

The Denver Nuggets are busy searching for someone to replace Masai Ujiri as the team’s general manager, and the former GM of the Philadelphia 76ers has reportedly emerged as a serious candidate.

DiLeo previously worked in the Sixers' front office and briefly as an interim head coach. He became the Sixers' GM in 2012 as part of a series of internal promotions in the organization. In the wake of the failed Andrew Bynum experiment, the Sixers elected to let DiLeo's contract expire and hire Sam Hinkie as the team's new GM.
Kroenke did not say whether the team will hire a coach or GM first during his initial press conference, and called both situations “fluid.” It’s hard to tell what the news on DiLeo means for Denver’s current Vice President of Basketball Operations Pete D’Alessandro, who was considered a leading candidate to replace Ujiri but is now being courted by the Kings.
The Nuggets are scheduled to interview former Memphis Grizzlies' head coach Lionel Hollins on Saturday, so everything is still up in the air for Denver at the moment, and Kroenke is making all of the calls.
