The Denver Nuggets have received permission to speak with current head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies Lionel Hollins and Indiana Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw, reports Benjamin Hochman of The Denver Post. The Nuggets fired 2013 Coach of the Year George Karl on Thursday and are in the opening phases in their search to replace the man who served as their head coach since 2005.

The Nuggets have been granted permission to speak with both Brian Shaw and Lionel Hollins as they search for a replacement for George Karl.
Hollins’ contract with the Grizzlies expires on June 30 and the two sides have not reached an agreement to extend his stay in Memphis. Hollins has publicly stated that it is his preference to stay with the organization, but there are “major philosophical differences” that have stalled their talks.

Shaw is considered a target for several teams with coaching vacancies. Shaw joined the Pacers in 2011 after serving as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Lakers under Phil Jackson. The Los Angeles Clippers have also received permission to speak with Shaw. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports has also reported that Shaw is considered the "front-runner" for the Brooklyn Nets coaching position.
