Andrew Bynum making debut for Indiana Pacers

The former All-Star center will make his debut when the Boston Celtics visit Indiana.

Andrew Bynum will make his debut for the Indiana Pacers when they host the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night, head coach Frank Vogel announced during practice. Bynum signed with the Pacers on Feb. 1, but has not played since his final game with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Dec. 26.

Indy Cornrows: Pacers have to pass more

Bynum's insertion into the active roster comes at a critical time for the Pacers. Indiana is on their longest losing streak of the season, having dropped their last four games. Backup center Ian Mahinmi will be out Tuesday with a bruised rib and the team has no other active backup center, clearing a path for Bynum to play off the bench.

The former All-Star and two-time NBA champion played 24 games for the Cavaliers before the team waived him after his conduct was deemed detrimental to the team. He averaged 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds in 20 minutes per game after missing the entire 2012-2013 season due to injury. Indiana’s offense has struggled recently, and Bynum could provide scoring help off the bench.
