Spurs will receive championship rings vs. Mavericks

The San Antonio Spurs will begin their title defense at home against the Dallas Mavericks at 8 p.m. on Oct. 28, the very first night of the NBA season.

LeBron James’ Cavaliers were initially supposed to be the opponent, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears. Instead, Cleveland will begin the year at home against the Knicks on Oct. 30 and Dallas takes its place.
