After finishing the season with an NBA-worst 16-66 record, the Minnesota Timberwolves have the best odds to win the 2015 NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night. However, the ping pong balls haven't been all that kind to the team with the worst record over the years.
NBA Draft Lottery 2015 odds: Timberwolves have best chance to win top pick
The Wolves have a 25 percent chance of nabbing the No. 1 pick.
The Wolves have a 25 percent chance of nabbing the top selection, although the team with the worst record in the league has only earned the top pick three times since the weighted lottery system was implemented in 1990 and four times overall since the lottery began in 1985. The good news is Minnesota can’t pick lower than fourth.
The New York Knicks finished with the second-worst record and have a 19.9 percent chance of winning the No. 1 pick. The Philadelphia 76ers are just behind the Knicks with a 15.6 percent chance at the top pick, while the Los Angeles Lakers have an 11.9 percent chance. The Lakers have just under an 83 percent chance of keeping their pick, which is top-five protected and goes to the Sixers if it falls outside the top five.
The Orlando Magic are fifth in line with an 8.8 percent chance of nabbing the No. 1 pick. Here are the complete lottery odds (via Posting and Toasting):
