David West and Tristan Thompson went head-to-head for the NBA Finals most intense fight

This fight escalated quickly.

David West and Tristan Thompson went at each other after West rebounded a Kyrie Irving missed a layup in the second quarter of Game 5 in the NBA Finals. After West snatched the rebound, Irving went directly back at him trying to take the ball back and that’s when West snapped. Thompson got involved directly after, and he and West went face-to-face until they were slapped with technicals and pulled aside by teammates and referees.

It got THIS real.

Things got tense after the Warriors pulled ahead for a double-figures lead after the game was close for most of the opening half. The Cavaliers won big in Game 4, and since then there’s been a spark to this series that wasn’t originally seen in the first three blowout losses.

West was cheered on by fans at Oracle, who thought this series might have been over already.

West was not ejected, and neither were Thompson or Irving. Bizarrely the Cavs were hit with a pair of techs, and the Warriors just one. West was given a technical for Golden State and both Irving and J.R. Smith were given techs for Cleveland.

It’s pretty clear that the Warriors and Cavs players aren’t big fans of each other.
