Check out all these new NBA uniforms

Good morning. We have that and more in Tuesday’s NBA newsletter.

The NBA has a new official uniform provider going into the 2017-18 season: the league switched from Adidas to Nike. That means that as Nike takes over, every uniform is getting little tweaks at a minimum. Some uniforms are getting rethought altogether.

Don’t forget, too, that the NBA’s era of jersey sponsor patches begins in 2017-18. It’s a big year of change in uniforms.

So far, most of them are pretty good. Nike still has a bunch more to roll out, and it’s not clear that all 30 teams will have their jersey sponsors inked up by opening night. Indiana has so far been the one eyebrow-raiser.

Check out all the Nike uniform releases to date in our tracker. Also, check in on our jersey patch tracker as those get announced.

Ten years ago, we were all wondering if the new Celtics — with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen joining Paul Pierce — could win big, and how long it would take them to jell. The answers turned out to be “yes” and “like a minute.” Paul Flannery looks back fondly on the modern era’s first true superteam.

Lamar Odom tells his story.

Kyrie Irving and Stephen Curry both attended Harrison Barnes’ wedding over the weekend. (Other NBA players were celebrating Trevor Ariza’s nuptials with Travis Scott. We all make choices.) Seeing Kyrie with a prominent Warrior is one thing. But when Kyrie then kind of participated in Steph’s mocking on LeBron’s Instagram workout video?! On camera?! Oh no, Kyrie. Oh no.

Oh No Kyrie, Part II: middle school science teachers are having to argue with Irving by proxy thanks to his Flat Earth B.S. at All-Star. Time for a field trip to the edge of the world, kids.

Speaking of NBA weddings, there is no fount of knowledge and taste on this subject I respect more than Juliet Litman, who judges Ariza and Barnes’ weddings based on the available information.

Six Kyrie trades that aren’t so crazy.

Stephen A. Smith explains why Kyrie no longer wants to play with LeBron.

The 2018 free agent class could be very tight as teams run out of cap space.

A former basketball star is living on the streets and does not want your help.

Big WNBA trade — the Atlanta Dream are going for it this year, while the Chicago Sky are in rebuild mode, it seems.

Inspired by new teammate Blake Griffin, Danilo Gallinari fractured his hand punching someone. In this case, it was another basketball player during an international not-so-friendly. Did you have to Clipper It Up so soon after becoming a Clipper, Gallo?

Is Chris Paul too focused on efficiency in the playoffs?

The Olympics are coming to Los Angeles in 2028! Oh gosh, Kobe is going to be heavily involved, isn’t he? Can’t wait!

Speaking of which, David Aldridge on the 25th anniversary of the Dream Team.

Last week, LaVar Ball threatened to yank his team from an Adidas tournament game unless a female referee who’d given him a technical was replaced. Adidas replaced her. Ball received a technical from another ref anyway and Adidas pulled the plug on the game about 20 minute early. This is quite bad, y’all. (After the criticism crescendoed Monday, Adidas apologized.)

Marc Spears on the Kings hiring Brandon Williams and the upswing in black executives in the NBA.

And finally: Tim Duncan doing Muay Thai.
