The No. 12 Michigan St. Spartans shot even worse in the second half than they did in the first, winding up at a flat 29 percent on the night and a just-keep-chuckin’ 18.8 percent from behind the three point line. The Spartans were also really into turnovers in the second half, giving the ball up 16 times total.
Texas Vs. Michigan State: Longhorns D Bottles Up Sparty, 67-55
No. 18 Texas Longhorns star Jordan Hamilton finished with a game-high 21 points plus eight rebounds, with Texas forward Tristan Thompson contributing 17 points an a ridiculous 15 rebounds, his highest of the season.
Longhorns forward Gary Johnson and Spartans Keith Lucas and Durrell Summers also posted double figures. Michigan State continued to own the boards in the second half, but not well enough to make up for that shooting.
10-2 Texas gets Coppin State next, while 8-4 Michigan State takes on Minnesota. Both games are set for Dec. 31.
