    UConn’s streak came to an end last night: Stanford’s 71-59 win at Maples Pavilion halted the Huskies’ run at an NCAA record 90 consecutive wins.

    But the really intriguing part of the women’s basketball season has just begun. UConn losing opens up the field, and there are a few titans waiting in the wings to make this year’s run toward an NCAA championship one of the most contentious in years. What did we learn last night?

    UConn Vs. Stanford: Huskies 90-Game Win Streak Ends As Huskies Fall To Stanford, 71-59

    Stanford led the way at the half, taking a 34-30 lead into the break. In the second half, the Cardinal widened the gap, outscoring UConn, 37-29. It was a completely dominating game from Stanford, who finally solved the UConn riddle that has plagued so many teams over the last two years.

    Moore finished the game with just 14 points, looking out of sorts for much of the game. Kelly Faris led the Huskies with 19 points in the loss. The Huskies shot just 33 percent from the field in the loss and were unable to ever get their high-powered offense going.

    UConn Winning Streak In Serious Jeopardy; Huskies Trail Stanford In The Second Half

    The Huskies have been unable to slow down Stanford’s Jeanette Pohlen thus far. Pohlen has shouldered the scoring load for the Cardinal, scoring 25 points while adding six rebounds and five assists. Nnemkadi Ogwumike has 10 points and Kayla Pederson is cleaning up the glass, grabbing 10 rebounds.

    By her standards, Maya Moore is having a slow night against the Cardinal. The usually unflappable scorer has put up only 14 points through the first 35 minutes. Kelly Faris leads the way for the Huskies with 17 points and six rebounds.
