No. 7 BYU Leads No. 6 San Diego State, 38-35, At Halftime
Through 20 minutes, San Diego State-BYU is living up to the hype. Jimmer Fredette has 13 points to lead BYU to a 38-35 halftime lead, SDSU’s Kawhi Leonard has been excellent (10 points, eight rebounds), and the house is rocking in San Diego.
BYU’s controlled this one since early in the first half. Fredette’s decision-making was superb as the Cougars built a lead that stretched to 10 points at its widest, and he was able to come off screens for open jumpers and dish out of double teams.

One of the best games of the college basketball season so far was BYU’s win over San Diego State in Provo; today, the two top-10 teams hook up again in San Diego, with even more on the line.
Of the two schools, it’s likely that San Diego State has the better chance at a top seed: the Aztecs have one loss, at BYU, and that was with Leonard suffering from flu-like symptoms. If they can top the Cougars and secure the top seed in the Mountain West Conference tournament, San Diego State should have the inside track to finishing its regular season with one loss, and would be a very strong candidate for a No. 1 seed.
