Isaiah Thomas hit a step-back jumper at the buzzer to give Washington a 77-75 overtime win over Arizona to win the Pac-10 Championship Game. Thomas crossed over and stepped back just inside the three-point line to score his 28th points of the game on the shot.
Pac-10 Championship Game 2011: Isaiah Thomas’ Buzzer Beater Gives Washington The Win
The Wildcats had tied the game at 75 on a three-pointer by Kevin Parrom with 20 seconds to go. The Huskies elected to call timeout and gave the ball to Thomas, who did the rest.
Arizona looked to have the game in hand in regulation, taking a four-point lead with 23 seconds left on two free throws by Derrick Williams. However, Washington hit a three, and after two more free throws, they tied the game when Thomas penetrated and kicked out to C.J. Wilcox in the corner for another three.
Williams was spectacular with 24 points and 11 rebounds, but Thomas was the story of this game. He dominated, and it was fitting that he was the guy who won it.
