Pac-10 Tournament 2011 Bracket, Schedule For Semifinals On Friday
Washington survived Klay Thompson’s Pac-10 Tournament record performance on Thursday night to advance to the semifinals, where the Huskies will face Oregon on Friday night. The Ducks stunned the UCLA Bruins in the quarterfinals, pulling off the upset in a 76-59 win. The semifinal portion of the bracket is set after a long day of Pac-10 hoops with only one upset to speak of.
USC opened the day against Cal, running away with the game using a strong second half push. The Bears were no match for the Trojans in the second half as they were unable to find an answer for the USC defense. The Trojans move on to face Arizona, who survived a pesky Oregon State team in the second game of the day. Pac-10 Player of the Year Derrick Williams showed why he took home the conference’s top honors, carrying the team to the nine-point win.

Arizona put a stop to Oregon State’s run through the 2011 Pac-10 Tournament, pulling out a 78-69 victory that had Wildcats fans assured of a victory with several minutes to go, though the Beavers did make a troubling late run. Derrick Williams pitched in 22 points and seven rebounds, while Solomon Hill added nine points and 12 boards.
Arizona gets USC in the semifinals, with whom they split their season series this year. Zona won 82-73 at home, while the Trojans took a 65-57 victory in Los Angeles.

Today’s quarterfinals of the Pac-10 Tournament could decide NCAA Tournament fates, and none more so than the last game of the day, an Apple Cup rematch.
Third-seeded Washington takes on sixth-seeded Washington State in the tournament nightcap, and the Huskies need wins — at least a win — to secure their NCAA Tournament return. A loss to the rival Cougars would leave Washington in possession of a very weak resume with a long weekend of watching other teams try to play their way in to come.

None of the four teams playing tonight in the opening round of the Pac-10 Tournament have any serious at-large credentials, but the games could still be worth watching for a chance to get an early look at the teams that could play spoiler to UCLA, USC, or Washington. Oregon State takes on Stanford in the early game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, while Oregon takes on Arizona State in the night cap.
