No. 18 Mississippi State vs. LSU: Bulldogs Hold Off Late-Surging Tigers For 76-71 Victory

The Mississippi State Bulldogs led by just one point with 18 seconds left in the game, but fouls by the LSU Tigers allowed the Bulldogs to pick up the easy points at the line and the victory.

The No. 18 Mississippi St. Bulldogs held off the LSU Tigers for a 76-71 victory on Wednesday night. LSU's Anthony Hickey made it a one-point game, 72-71, by sinking a three-pointer with 18 seconds left, but that was as close as the team could get. A couple of personal fouls and a team technical foul allowed the Bulldogs to pick up four points and take home the victory.

Arnett Moultrie had a monster of a game with 28 points and 12 rebounds, both games high. Dee Bost also had a solid all-around game with 9 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds. Off the bench, Jalen Steele put in 15 points and Wendell Lewis grabbed nine rebounds.

Hickey was second on the team with 16 points while Andre Stringer put up 17 from off the bench. The Tigers impressively shot 52.4 percent from beyond the arc, but failed to reach the line often, taking just 13 free throw attempts. They made eight of them. The Tigers also fell victim to the Bulldogs' 40-23 advantage in rebounding.

The Bulldogs are on a two-game winning streak and will visit the Florida Gators on Saturday.
