Kyle Kuric scored 17 points on the strength of four three-pointers and No. 17 Louisville held off Pitt for a 57-54 win at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky.

The Panthers got as close as 53-52 after Lamar Patterson found Dante Taylor for a dunk with 31 seconds left. But Chane Behanan and Peyton Siva hit their free throws down the stretch and Pitt could not pull ahead.

Louisville is now 22-7 (10-6, Big East) while Pitt drops to 15-14 (4-12, Big East). Louisville shot the ball poorly from the floor and was out-rebounded by the Panthers, but the Cardinals made up the difference by getting to the free-throw line and stealing the ball 13 times.

Russ Smith came off the bench to lead the Cardinals with 18 points on 7-for-12 shooting. Kuric added four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Reserve forward J.J. Moore paced the Panthers with 16 points and seven rebounds.
