CBI Bracket 2012: Washington State Defeats Pittsburgh 67-66

The Washington State Cougars have won the first game of the 2012 CBA Championship series, but the Pittsburgh Panthers will feel good about their chances to force a third game when the two teams meet again in Pennsylvania. WSU led by as many as 12 points in the second half in Pullman, but Pittsburgh eventually pulled back and got within one point in the final minute. They couldn't claim the lead, however, and Washington State held on for a 67-66 win.

Pittsburgh had plenty of chances to pull off the win or extend the game down the stretch. With Pitt down by two points, Talib Zanna got to the free throw line with just four seconds remaining. He hit the first free throw, but missed the second. Pitt would get the ball back for another last-second shot attempt, but failed to convert.

Both teams were incredible from behind the arc. Pitt was 10-20 from three-point range, while Washington State was 9-15. Three players tied to lead all scorers with 16 points -- WSU's Abe Lodwick, along with Pitt's Tray Woodall and J.J. Moore.

The teams play the second game of the best-of-three series Wednesday.
