The 2012 CBI Tournament played out over the past two weeks, as top college basketball teams without NCAA Tournament or NIT invites battled it out for the trophy. In the end, it came down to two teams and then to the third and final game in the best-of-three championship series on Friday night. In the end, the Pittsburgh Panthers took home the championship with a 71-65 win over the Washington St. Cougars.

The two teams traded blows in the first half before Pittsburgh managed to take a slim lead. Entering halftime, the Panthers were on top, 38-35. Pittsburgh would stretch their lead out to 10 points in the second half before the Cougars began clawing their way back into the fight in the final minutes of regulation. Washington State drew within six points before Pittsburgh pulled away again and hung on for the lead. Panthers guard Tray Woodall led Pittsburgh players with 17 points and seven assists.

The Cougars had won the first game of the series by one point before Pittsburgh came back to win the last two.
