The Pittsburgh Panthers forced a third and final game for the 2012 CBI Tournament Championship title against the Washington St. Cougars with a win on Wednesday night.
2012 CBI Tournament Championship, Pitt Vs. WSU Final Score: Panthers Force Game 3 With 57-53 Win
The Cougars won the first leg 67-66 on Monday night, with the help of some hot shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. They went just 4-of-13 from long range Wednesday, however, helping the Panthers to a 57-53 win.
Abe Lodwick went 4-of-5 from beyond the arc on Monday, but just 1-of-5 on Wednesday on his way to only nine points. Reggie Moore helped pick up the slack with 18 points (including an 8-of-10 mark from the free throw line) but as a whole, Wazzu wasn't nearly sharp enough to hang with Pitt.
Three players scored in double figures for the Panthers. As a team they shot just 40.9 percent from the floor, but made two more 3-pointers than the Cougars and were slightly better on the boards (eight offensive rebounds to four). Talib Zanna went a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor to lead the team with 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Lamar Patterson added 12 points and five assists.
The third and final game of the best-of-three series will tip off at 7 p.m. ET on Friday at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh.
