College Football Rankings: What Will Nebraska’s Loss Change?

Nebraska was just upset by Texas; what implications does that have for the college football polls?

The Cornhuskers were ranked fifth in the AP Poll and fourth in the USA Today coaches poll. With a loss to two-loss Texas, the Huskers could fall out of the top ten in both polls. It would seem hard to put Big Red, whose best win came against Washington, ahead of a one-loss team like 10th/12th-ranked South Carolina, that beat Alabama.

The BlogPoll has a little less correction to do: Nebraska was sixth this week, and should tumble, but that’s not as bad as a top-five team removing itself from contention for top spots.
