In a third quarter that feels like it went on for about three days, Ohio State rips back the lead and its homefield advantage from the Nittany Lions.
Matt McGloin is stopped short with two incomplete passes on Penn State's second set of downs, and the Buckeyes get the ball with 12:23 remaining in the quarter. They lean on Daniel Herron earlier, handing it off for two carries, then Terrelle Pryor hits him for an 11-yard gain that converts third down and then some. Herron gets off a 19-yard run immediately following, and Pryor 14 on the next play. More Buckeyes get in on the act, as five plays later Brandon Saine runs left for 19 yards and plants Ohio State in the red zone. Herron punches up the middle for a five-yard touchdown, and Ohio State finds its momentum.
That swing is almost immediately evident: On Penn State's fourth play from scrimmage, Devon Torrence intercepts McGloin for a 33-yard pick-six. The Nittany Lions go three-and-out; the Buckeyes mount another drive, and the Horseshoe is suddenly a much more festive place to party. At the end of the third quarter, Ohio State leads Penn State, 17-14.
