In its last year with 12 teams, the Big 12 is putting up a performance worth remembering.
College Football Rankings: Big 12 Stellar In Week 13 USA Today Poll
Five Big 12 teams are ranked in the USA Today coaches poll for Week 13, but all five are in the top 18 teams ranked.
That’s indicative of the conference’s surprising depth this season. All of the five ranked teams have a loss, but none have more than Texas A&M’s three, and of the top four teams’ losses, just Missouri’s loss against Texas Tech and Nebraska’s loss to Texas came against unranked Big 12 teams.
It’s unlikely that the conference places two teams in BCS bowl games — thanks to Nebraska’s loss to Texas A&M this week, the Huskers will likely need to win the Big 12 Championship to go to a BCS bowl — but the middle class of the Big 12 may make the conference the class of the country, even without an undefeated team like Auburn or Oregon.
Full Big 12 rankings are as follows:
- No. 9 Oklahoma State
- No. 13 Oklahoma
- No. 15 Nebraska
- No. 16 Missouri
- No. 18 Texas A&M
