Oklahoma had tacked on three field goals after Oklahoma State tied the game at 24-24. With one drive, the Cowboys have all but erased that deficit.
Oklahoma State Vs. Oklahoma: After Sooners Field Goals, Traded Touchdowns
The Cowboys stormed down the field in a hurry, scoring a touchdown on a six-play, 66-yard drive that took under two minutes off the clock. And it was Justin Blackmon, gamely running around on an ankle that has had him hobbling all night long, who caught the touchdown pass, a 15-yarder from Brandon Weeden, that enabled the Cowboys to cut the Oklahoma lead to 33-31.
This game has been exciting in fitful spurts, and it appears that we’ve entered the home stretch and a last one, because Oklahoma answered back with its biggest play of the night: Landry Jones found Cameron Kenney on a third down post, and Kenney accelerated to score on an 86-yard play that gave Oklahoma a 40-31 advantage.
Then, because that wasn’t insane enough, Justin Gilbert sprinted 89 yards through a crease for a kick return touchdown to make it a field goal game all over again. Oklahoma now leads 40-38 after three touchdowns in little more than a minute of game clock.
Bedlam? Yeah, we have that in Stillwater.
