Oregon Vs. Oregon State: Ducks Answer Back With TD, But Beavers Block Extra Point

The 2010 Civil War in Corvallis has treated us to a wild first quarter, and thanks to a blocked extra point, it got a little wilder. Trailing 7-0 to unranked Oregon State, the No. 1 Oregon Ducks mounted a touchdown drive of their own.

After converting a fourth-and-one opportunity, quarterback Darron Thomas handed the ball to running back LaMichael James, who busted loose for a 31-yard game down the left sideline. Thomas ended the drive with three straight completions, including a three-yard touchdown strike to Kenjon Barner.

On the ensuing PAT attempt, Oregon kicker Rob Beard appeared to have been the victim of a bad hold. Beard’s kick was blocked, and in the resultant scramble, Oregon State recovered the ball and threatened to take the ball all the way back to the far end zone. The attempt was thwarted, though, by a bad lateral.

Early in the second quarter, Oregon State leads Oregon, 7-6. The Badgers are driving, having made their way into Oregon territory.
