Report: Colorado Will Hire Jon Embree, Bring Back Eric Bienemy As Offensive Coordinator

So it appears that Colorado denying offering its head coaching job to Jon Embree were more or less hokum.

The Associated Press is tweeting that not only is Embree in, he already has an offensive coordinator.

Former Colorado star Eric Bieniemy returning as offensive coordinator. Jon Embree expected to be introduced Monday as head coach. That’s probably a good bit of info to sell fans on this move. Embree’s sort of an unknown quantity, but Bieniemy’s a familiar and fondly remembered name for Buffs fans.

He played at Colorado from 1987 to 1990, and left as Colorado’s career leader in rushing yards, all-purpose yards, and touchdowns. After a nine-year NFL career, he went into coaching, for stints with his alma mater, UCLA, and the Minnesota Vikings — he was named the Vikings’ assistant head coach for the offense this June, and has been the Vikings’ running backs coach for much of Adrian Peterson’s time with the team.
