The 'Canes mauled TIno Sunseri in the backfield on the Panthers' first play from scrimmage following Miami's touchdown, which really set the tone for the rest of the first quarter. Pitt went three-and-out, and on the ensuing possession Jacory Harris was intercepted on an endzone bomb. This was followed, naturally, by three more insignificant plays and a punt from the Panthers.

For the moment, these two squads seem to have settled into an ineptitude rut. At the end of the first quarter, Miami leads 7-0.
