Marcus Lattimore Injury: Sprained Left Knee May Sideline South Carolina Star For ‘A While’

Marcus Lattimore's knee injury has a diagnosis: it's a left knee sprain for the South Carolina running back, who left the Gamecocks' 14-12 win over Mississippi State and did not return, later heading to the locker room on crutches and with his knee tightly wrapped.

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says Lattimore could be out “a while,” and it’s hard not to think that he’ll miss at least one week of play, given how gingerly he walked to the locker room. He’ll be on those crutches for a while, certainly.

The Gamecocks have struggled on offense in 2011, with Connor Shaw still developing after Stephen Garcia's inconsistency and off-field issues ended his time with South Carolina. Losing Lattimore, who had 779 yards on the year coming into this Saturday, is a blow they can ill afford.
