The first eight minutes of the massive Big Ten clash between the Wisconsin Badgers and Michigan State Spartans was completely in favor of the visitors. UW started the game with an 80 yard touchdown drive, then forced a turnover and scored again. For the next 22 minutes, they failed to score and were thoroughly outplayed. The end results of their final four drives were an interception, a safety, a blocked field goal, and a blocked punt. All of that has led to some scoring for the Spartans, who lead 23-14 at halftime.

The punt block was the big back-breaker for the Badgers, as it came with 30 seconds remaining in the half and was returned for a touchdown. Russell Wilson, Montee Ball and James White have been productive, but the mistakes have been impossible to overcome. Additionally, Kirk Cousins is 8-10 passing, while the Spartans are averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
Wisconsin looked like the far superior team in the opening eight minutes, but they’re lucky that they only gave up 23 points with all of their mistakes afterwards.
