Tennessee Volunteers coach Derek Dooley didn't burn freshman quarterback Justin Worley's redshirt for no reason. Monday, the Vols unveiled Worley as their starting quarterback against the South Carolina Gamecocks, meaning an unfortunate slide down the depth chart for Matt Simms.
Freshman Justin Worley To Start For Tennessee Football Against South Carolina
The Vols are still without starter Tyler Bray for some time, and Simms hasn't shown much against the Alabama Crimson Tide and LSU Tigers (but who has?). Even though they've been dealt one of the nation's harshest hands, from losing Janzen Jackson to losing Justin Hunter, Tennessee still has to walk away with a SEC win and a push for another bowl trip for the season to feel like a survival story.
Worley’s stats: he has none. He emerged late against Bama and handed off a couple times. He was the No. 24 pro-style quarterback in his class, according to Rivals.
