Chris Rainey Injury: Florida Speedster Leaves Game Vs. Georgia With Ankle Issue

Florida's rivalry showdown against Georgia has gotten off to a bizarre start, with John Brantley starting despite missing warm-ups, NCAA track champion Jeff Demps getting caught from behind, and the Gators' back-up kicker missing a field goal. But Chris Rainey getting hurt may be the most significant development of the early goings in Jacksonville.

Rainey appeared to wrench either his ankle or knee underneath him on the Gators’ first running play of the day, and left the game. He walked off the field under his own power, and is being examined on the Florida sideline. It is unclear whether the injury will knock him out of the game completely.

With Rainey out of the game, look for Jeff Demps and Mike Gillislee to fill his role at running back.
