The Alabama Crimson Tide fell to LSU in what was dubbed the "Game of the Century" in overtime, 9-6. Slipping to only No. 3 in the BCS, the Tide can still get back in to the National Title hunt especially if LSU drops a game on the way. Alabama must take care of a disappointing Mississippi State team in Starkville first, however. Behind Heisman hopeful running back Trent Richardson, the Tide will look to get their offense going against a Mississippi State defense that is only allowing 16 points per game. "We can't let it affect us or it will turn into another loss," safety Robert Lester said. "We just have to look past it and focus on what we have to do."

Mississippi State was pegged to make some noise in the SEC West prior to the season, but they've been meddled in quarterback issues and have gone just 1-4 in the SEC. The Bulldogs offense has struggled to get things going on offense, scoring just 18 points a game in SEC play. Sophomore quarterback Tyler Russell has taken over for the struggling Chris Relf to give MSU some semblance of a passing game. The SEC is out of the question now for the Bulldogs, but they can play spoiler against the Tide today.
