LSU Vs. Western Kentucky Score: Tigers Fending Off Hilltoppers, 14-7

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers have managed to not only score against the LSU Tigers, but they also deadlocked the Tigers for a good portion of the first half.

The Tigers weren't able to get on board until 6:18 remained in the first quarter. Jordan Jefferson connected with Rueben Randle for a 59-yard touchdown strike. Over the next 4:52, the Hilltoppers worked their way down the field for a 10-play, 65-yard touchdown. Quarterback Kawaun Jakes completed three passes for 10-plus yards on the drive and saw Keshawn Simpson rush for a two-yard touchdown.

Western Kentucky failed to capitalize on its next drive, which came just seconds later as a result of LSU fumbling the kick return. In the second quarter, the Hilltoppers missed a 49-yard field goal and the chance to take the lead.

However, later in the second quarter LSU took a 14-7 lead on a Kenny Hilliard one-yard run. Jefferson connected on passes of 29 and 24 yards to set up that score.
