College Football Standings: Oklahoma State Leads Big 12

The Big 12 won’t have a conference championship game in name in 2011, but the Bedlam Game match-up between Oklahoma State and Oklahoma is looking like a de facto title clash.

Oklahoma State is the only Big 12 team with no losses in conference play. Oklahoma is the only Big 12 team with only one loss in conference play. The two teams are on a collision course to meet in Norman in the first week of December and play for a conference championship, a BCS bowl berth, and, in Oklahoma State’s case, a chance at a national title.

There are other games left on the Big 12 schedule, but no other team is alive in the conference race. Oklahoma State could lose twice and have Oklahoma lose once, and it still wouldn’t help poor Kansas State, which has lost to both Sooner State teams and will lose any potential tiebreakers to those two teams as a result.

The only way the winner of the Bedlam Game doesn’t win the Big 12? If Oklahoma loses to Baylor in Week 12, then beats Oklahoma State two weeks later.
