The top three all won, but Boise State went down in flames and Stanford saw its BCS hopes disappear at the hands of Oregon ... again. That might help Alabama more than any other team.

BCS Standings, Week 12: Oklahoma State, Oklahoma Still On Big 12 Collision Course

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are still steaming towards each other, with a Bedlam date looming large for both teams. The Cowboys remained at No. 2 in this week’s BCS rankings, and control their own championship fate. But it won’t come easy if Oklahoma has anything to say about it.

The No. 6 Sooners are still hanging around the BCS standings despite an embarrassing loss to Texas Tech earlier this season. The Red Raiders, by the way, were lit up by Oklahoma State this past weekend in a 66-6 loss.

BCS Rankings And Bowl Projections, Week 12: Oklahoma’s Awful Loss And The Non-AQ Race

When Oklahoma was shocked by Texas Tech on Oct. 22 in its homecoming game, the Sooners were left for the BCS trash heap. Dead as in Generalissimo Francisco Franco. George Custer. Julius Caesar.

    Or so we thought.

Week 12 BCS Standings: Oregon, Stanford Flip-Flop, Still Pace Pac-12

It’s still the Oregon and Stanford show for the Pac-12 in the latest BCS Rankings, but things look a bit different than they did last week. Following the Ducks’ big win in the Pac-12 North showdown on Saturday, the two teams have flip-flopped, with Oregon leaping into the top-five and Stanford sliding down near the bottom of the top-10.

The Ducks need some help to vault into the BCS Championship, and from the looks of things may not get it. However, Oregon is almost assured of a Rose Bowl berth, given to winner of the first-ever Pac-12 Championship. An early season loss to LSU may have killed the Ducks chance of making a return trip to the title game, but they’ve bounced back nicely since.

College Football Standings: Pac-12 Should Pit Oregon Against UCLA Or Arizona State

The Pac-12 has one division all but settled. The other one is anything but.

Oregon’s Week 11 win over Stanford has all but ended the race in the Pac-12 North. The Ducks are 7-0 in conference and have games remaining against USC and Oregon State, but obviously hold a head-to-head tiebreaker against Stanford, 7-1 in conference, and would need to lose both games to not go to the first Pac-12 Championship Game.

College Football Standings: Clemson, Virginia Tech On ACC Championship Game Collision Course

The ACC has no chance of a team making the BCS National Championship Game, but the conference will still place one team in the BCS. It’s almost a certainty at this point. that that team will be either Clemson or Virginia Tech.

Clemson leads the Atlantic Division with a 5-1 conference record. The second-place team in the division, Florida State, has one more conference loss, but fell to Clemson, so the Tigers have what amounts to a two-game lead. And Clemson has just one more conference game, at North Carolina State in Week 12, so the Tigers are assured of a spot in the ACC Championship Game.

College Football Standings: Oklahoma State Leads Big 12

The Big 12 won’t have a conference championship game in name in 2011, but the Bedlam Game match-up between Oklahoma State and Oklahoma is looking like a de facto title clash.

Oklahoma State is the only Big 12 team with no losses in conference play. Oklahoma is the only Big 12 team with only one loss in conference play. The two teams are on a collision course to meet in Norman in the first week of December and play for a conference championship, a BCS bowl berth, and, in Oklahoma State’s case, a chance at a national title.

College Football Standings: Big Ten Wide Open After Penn State Loss

The Big Ten may have narrowly avoided a public relations catastrophe with Penn State’s loss to Nebraska in Week 11. But that loss by the Nittany Lions, previously undefeated in the conference, means that neither the Leaders nor the Legends Division has a sure-thing favorite at the moment.

Penn State still, er, leads the Leaders Division, with a 5-1 record in conference play, but plays at Ohio State and Wisconsin in the next two weeks. Even if the Nittany Lions get past the Buckeyes, the 4-2 Badgers can win the division and earn a Big Ten Championship Game berth with a win over them in Madison in two weeks.

College Football Standings: LSU, Georgia Should Meet For SEC Championship

The SEC has five top-15 teams in the Week 12 college football rankings, which might make it look like a brawl for control of the conference is in the offing. But that’s not the case, as LSU controls the SEC West and Georgia controls the SEC East.

The Tigers are the only undefeated team left in the SEC, and have swept all of their East foes (Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee) and have only Mississippi and Arkansas left as conference foes. If the Tigers can beat both teams, they will head to the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta in December; if the Razorbacks beat LSU in their Thanksgiving weekend rivalry match-up, though, it’s possible that the West winner will be decided by BCS standings.

College Football Rankings: Alabama No. 3, Oregon No. 4 Spot In Week 12 AP Poll

No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Oklahoma State top the poll, but Alabama’s just one spot behind the undefeated Cowboys, and it seems likely that the Tide would rise to No. 2 again should Oklahoma State lose.

LSU is also the first unanimous AP No. 1 during the regular season since Texas earned that distinction in 2008.

College Football Rankings: Alabama Back To No. 3 In Week 12 USA Today Poll

The Tide rose after Stanford lost to Oregon in Week 11, sending the Cardinal down to No. 9 and elevating the Ducks to No. 4. And they were already ahead of Boise State, which falls out of the top 10 to No. 11 after being upset by TCU at home.

The Broncos’ loss is Houston’s game. The Cougars are the only undefeated team that isn’t in a BCS automatic qualifier conference, and show up at No. 10.

College Football Rankings Preview: Stanford, Boise State Both Fall

Unlike last week, there will be no shakeup at the very top of the college football rankings. LSU, Oklahoma State and Alabama all took care of business and should remain in the same place as we hit the home stretch. However, the top-5 will have a very different look as the AP and Coaches Poll are released on Sunday morning.

Both the No. 4 and No. 5 teams fell this week, one in more surprising fashion than the other. Going into the weekend, it was assumed Oregon would give Stanford a tough test, and the Ducks did that and more. By the time it was all said and done in Palo Alto, Oregon had completely asserted itself in a 23-point win.
