Illinois Fighting Illini coach Ron Zook cut short his Tuesday press conference after being asked about his job. He opened his remarks by saying, "This thing's about our football team and the team we're playing." He added, "If you feel compelled to talk about [me], then my part will be over with."
Ron Zook Hot Seat Questions Drive Illinois Coach Out Of Press Conference
Long-embattled Illinois coach Ron Zook didn’t take kindly to a question about his job status.
Shannon Ryan of the Chicago Tribute asked the first question, on whether Zook has talked to his players about the rumors, in order to keep them from becoming a distraction. A clever question, but one which possessed an artistry Zook didn’t appreciate.
“Just couldn’t let it go, could you Shannon?” Zook said before leaving.
Here’s the video, and here’s Ryan’s account:

#Illini Zook said if anyone asks about him personally, he'll end the press conference.

#Illini HC Zook not happy I asked how he handles rumors about his job w/ team. Pointed, stared, and walked out-as said he would if asked.
That comes one day after a report by former Ohio State beat writer Jeff Rapp that the decision to oust Zook has already been made. The Illini are 6-4 after a 6-0 start and have dealt with arrests and a player getting shot over the past week.
