With a Legends Division title and a spot in the Big Ten championship game already reserved, Michigan State traveled to Evanston Saturday afternoon and finished off their conference schedule with a 31-17 win over Northwestern. The Spartans finished the regular season at 10-2 and 7-1 in conference. They will face the winner of this afternoon’s Nebraska-Penn State game next week in the conference’s inaugural championship game.

In the second half, senior Kirk Cousins passed Jeff Smoker's school record for career touchdown passes. Cousins hooked up twice with wide receiver B.J. Cunningham on two bullets from outside the red zone, strikes for 33 and 29 yard touchdowns. Cousins finished the game 14 of 20 for 214 passing yards. In addition to the two touchdowns, Cunningham finished with 6 catches for 120 yards
Dan Persa kept the Wildcats in it for much of the second, with two touchdown passes of his own keeping the Spartans lead at 7. But Cousins' would ice the game and give MSU the 14 point lead with five minutes remaining.
