Look, the pickings are slim right now if you’re trying to find close games involving a ranked team. The afternoon/early evening shift is severely lacking at the moment, and a 14-point game at the half is the best we can do. That’s the case in the rivalry game between Virginia and Virginia Tech, with the Hokies holding a 14-0 halftime lead.

We never said it was a pretty game, though. Perusing the stats, one would think this was a fairly even game -- Virginia Tech holds a 199-162 advantage in total yards and Virginia has turned the ball over once. But no, the Hokies have control of this one, at least momentarily, though much can change in the next 30 minutes.
Logan Thomas had a hand in both Virginia Tech touchdowns, completing a 16-yard pass to Jarrett Boykin for one and rushing it in from 14 yards out for the other. Thomas finished the half with 138 yards through the air, while Virginia quarterback Michael Rocco finished with 141 yards passing. Again, fairly even.
At the break in Charlottesville, the No. 5 Hokies are on top, 14-0.
